Porcelain candle plate | Jez Rose, 2026

£60.00

Porcelain candle plate with house ash glaze.

Description:

The beauty and tranquility of candlelight is something that has long captured us. Whether a bare pillar candle, or something scented in a jar, a base grounds a candle and gives it a sense of belonging in a space. This wheel-thrown candle plate is made with British porcelain and features the hallmarks of ceramic artist Jez Rose: his maker’s mark based on the old English rose, the year of production in Roman numerals, and a subtle imperfection: an indent.

Finished in an oak ash glaze using ash from a storm-felled oak tree in our garden, and rust from a 100+ year old Rutland horse shoe. An addition of an experimental glaze adds a subtle highlight.

Particulars:

Material: Porcelain, wheel thrown in England

Size: H 1.6 W 11.7cm

Artist: Jez Rose, 2026

Owing to the uniqueness of our collection items, each piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity hand signed by the artist.

Your purchases will be individually wrapped in protective packaging, within a surrounding layer of additional protection, and shipped using a tracked courier in our extra-thick walled cardboard boxes. All of our packaging is recycled and 100% recyclable.

Unique:

No two of our pieces are the same; intentional variations are part of what gives each object its character, provenance and individuality.

The marks of the maker, the subtle movement of a glaze and the small variations created by firing are evidence of how an object came into being - indeed, they are what make a handmade piece feel made, rather than manufactured.

While most of the objects we produce are designed to be lived with rather than simply displayed, perhaps the most successful objects are not those that continually ask to be noticed but are the ones we simply cannot imagine living without.
