Our story.
FOUND is an independent British ceramics studio on the border of Rutland and Northamptonshire, set within the bucolic landscape of the English countryside.
It is a place for making, but also for looking closely: at materials, at light, at texture, and at the small details that are so easily missed. The studio was founded from a shared belief that the objects we live with can be both beautiful and meaningful; made with care, intended to last, and allowed to develop a character of their own. We’ve come a long way since the leaking, draughty garage in which we began!
In 2026, FOUND became the world’s first certified carbon neutral ceramics studio. For us, this is not a statement separate from the work, but part of a wider responsibility to consider what we use, how we make, and what we leave behind.
Working primarily in porcelain and stoneware, FOUND explores the beauty and possibility of natural and reclaimed materials. Ash, minerals and industry materials are brought together through considered processes to create distinctive surfaces and finishes, often revealing something unexpected in the firing. Some materials are familiar; others are overlooked, discarded or found in places we might not ordinarily think to look such as coffee grounds, flower heads, and rust.

Jez Rose [Co-founder]
Jez Rose is a #1 bestselling author and behaviour change advisor who came to ceramics almost by accident.
After more than two decades working internationally with organisations and leaders, Jez stepped away from his career for six months. Somewhere during that pause, he discovered clay, and what began as an experiment became a lasting fascination with the possibilities of making by hand.
His work in porcelain and stoneware is informed by a long-standing interest in restraint: what can be removed, simplified or left untouched to allow form, texture and material to speak for themselves. He is particularly drawn to natural, reclaimed and unexpected materials, and to the subtle variations created by hand and fire.
Todd Gilbey [Co-founder]
Todd Gilbey brings almost two decades of experience in hair artistry to his practice in ceramics, where an instinct for texture, proportion, detail and creativity flow.
As an artist, Todd works across functional and sculptural forms. He is particularly interested in the exploration of form, learning the rules and then breaking the boundaries. His stoneware work often explores deeply tactile finishes, inspired by nature. With his particular sensitivity to surface, touch, and the quiet details that give an object its character, it allows the material itself to become an integral part of the form.
